Founded in 1995 by Katalin Kátai and Péter Bolza, Kátai & Bolza Literary Agents is Hungary’s most prominent independent agency, selling translation rights on behalf of many prestigious publishers and literary agencies from North America, the UK, Australia, Europe and Israel. When the agency opened, it specialized exclusively in Hungarian language publication rights, but its excellent track record and solid international reputation led to expansion and since 2007.
Kátai & Bolza also represents clients in Croatia, Serbia, Slovenia and other countries in the former Yugoslavia.
Founding partner Katalin Kátai stepped back from active participation in the management of the company in 2011, and her son Miklós Lekli, who by then had been with the agency for 10 years, joined Péter Bolza in the partnership and management.
